Colorado is about to get a hipper morning radio show to counter the institution that is NPR's "Morning Edition."<br />Not that there is anything wrong with the expertly produced and comfortably familiar "Morning Edition," which airs on in Summit County on KUNC (88.3 FM). The much-honored program has been a comforting source of news and information for 30 years. (Generations of regulars know the voice of Carl Kasell who retired Dec. 23.)<br />But there's a battle brewing for the next generation of morning public radio listeners.<br />"The Takeaway," a more conversational show that's been airing in other markets for a year, will launch Jan. 4 from 5 to 8 a.m. weekdays on Denver's KUVO - 89.7 FM in Summit County.<br /></div></div></div>]]></description>

A mountain-top restaurant called Sam's Smokehouse, located at the Snowmass ski area, was given gold, the third highest of four levels.<br />Aspen Skiing has a long history with LEED buildings. In 1999, it developed one of the first LEED-certified buildings in the world. A golf clubhouse in 2003 received the silver-level certification, the second highest level.<br />Auden Schendler, the company's director of community and environmental responsibility, has been a stern critic of the LEED certification process, calling the process cumbersome with too little attention to energy efficiency. "We have been given two donations from private individuals totaling $750, the Town of Silverthorne has granted us $1,500 and the Summit Foundation has granted us $4,000. She also said there's no need to revaccinate people who've already had a nasal spray vaccine this season. At the time the vaccine was administered within Summit County, the vaccine strength was fine.<br />"It wasn't as stable as they would like it to be," she said, noting that people who got it immediately got the necessary potency needed for a vaccine.
